Responding Woman Needs
The Somali Women Empowerment Initiative (SWEI) is women-led non- governmental organization formed in 2012 with a bold vision: to transform the lives of Somali women and girls through empowerment, education, and opportunity. Headquartered in Mogadishu, SWEI was founded by a group of passionate Somali women professionals and community leaders committed to addressing gender inequality, systemic barriers, and the social and economic exclusion faced by women in Somalia

To empower Somali women and girls through education, advocacy, economic development, and community engagement, while promoting gender justice and protecting women’s rights across Somalia and the diaspora.
Vision
To create an inclusive and equitable society in which Somali women are empowered, respected, and active agents of change in all aspects of life.
